GPA / CGPA Calculator

GPA (Grade Point Average) is a credit-weighted average of the grade points you earned across your subjects:

GPA = Σ (Credit Hours × Grade Points) ÷ Σ Credit Hours

Each subject contributes in proportion to its credit hours, so a 4-credit course with a strong grade moves your GPA more than a 1-credit course with the same grade.

GPA vs. CGPA: the two terms describe the same math applied at different scopes. GPA usually refers to your grade point average for a single semester or term, while CGPA(Cumulative GPA) refers to the weighted average across all semesters completed so far. This calculator doesn't distinguish between the two — it simply computes the credit-weighted average of whatever subjects you enter, so you can use it as a semester GPA calculator by entering one term's subjects, or as a CGPA calculator by entering every course you've taken across all semesters.

Grading scales:the 10-point scale, common at Indian universities, maps letter grades to points from O/A+ (10) down to F (0). The 4.0 scale, standard in the US, maps grades from A (4.0) down to F (0), with plus/minus grades at fractional points like B+ (3.3) or A- (3.7). The two scales aren't interchangeable one-to-one — a 9/10 and a 4.0/4.0 both represent a top grade, but converting between them (e.g. for CGPA-to-percentage conversions) requires your institution's specific formula, since conventions vary.

Worked example (10-point scale): suppose you take four subjects — a 4-credit course graded A (9 points), a 3-credit course graded B+ (8 points), a 3-credit course graded O (10 points), and a 2-credit course graded B (7 points). Total credits: 4 + 3 + 3 + 2 = 12. Total grade points: (4×9) + (3×8) + (3×10) + (2×7) = 36 + 24 + 30 + 14 = 104. GPA = 104 ÷ 12 = 8.67.
