Functions & Order of Operations
Expressions are evaluated using standard mathematical order of operations (PEMDAS/BODMAS): parentheses first, then exponents and roots, then multiplication and division left to right, then addition and subtraction left to right. So 2 + 3 × 4 evaluates to 14, not 20, and (2 + 3) × 4 evaluates to 20.
Trigonometric functions (sin, cos, tan and their inverses) depend on the DEG/RAD toggle — the same input gives a different result in each mode, since sin(30°) = 0.5 but sin(30 radians) ≈ -0.988. Always confirm the mode before reading a trig result.
Common shortcuts: use √x for square roots, x² or the power function for exponents, and ln/log for natural and base-10 logarithms respectively.
